Phyllis Karsten Double Road Race (10K+5K) This race is a huge challenge for us slower runners. In fact there are many of us who cannot run the whole course. I do what I call "Indian Pace" - Run when you can, walk when you have to. Those faster runners get to enjoy a nice intermission while us slower types are still paddling along as fast as our feet will move. It strikes me as ironic when I read your article about how this race requires strategizing to save energy for the last 5K. My only strategy is to go sat fast as I can from the opening gun and hope I have the stamina to complete the race.

I am honored to get such recognition from everyone - the extra medals, the pictures in your web site - even on the program! I was especially blown away by the reception as I approached the 10K mark at the recent San Jose Double. All I can say is Thank You and I hope I can stay true to the vision I seem to represent.

Hi Bob & Ujena Fit Team,

I did my first Double in Pleasanton at the First Inaugural DRR! The 23rd in SJ (my home town) was my 2nd, and it felt as great as the 1st only a LOT less WET, remember that day, Bob?

Unfortunately I could not stay for the awards but was surprised to see that I placed 3rd in my AG! I also read "must be present to win". Would I have won something? Next time! and thanks for a VERY well organized race... again!

Michelle Wenner San Jose UjENA 5K Run/Walk Parking needs to be delineated better. There needs to be signs directing traffic where they can park. Fun race. Received a "Top Age Group Placer" medal along with everyone else. Surplus? After party was fun with lots of goodies.

First off, it was an awesome perfect weather to run the event yesterday. I notice some changes that I think was really good which is calling out the runners name as they cross the finish line. I heard someone give them extra boost for the day to hear their name :-)

This was my second run in San Jose Double and I would was awsome! Not only did I finish 3 mins early than last year, I beat my own PR. Thanks to Bob for partnering with Sweat Tracker. It help us a lot and I know one of us placed 5th in his age group and not only that, it was his first time running the Doubles!

I cant wait for the next one and hopefully we get more training weekends with Sweat Tracker at Campbell area.

Pamela Bryant Double Road Race (10K+5K) Friends and I did this race for the first time. We all enjoyed it very much and thanks for the extra bling. 2 of us placed in our age divisions. Running the same course for 3 loops made the course a bit boring. But more important please put more TP in the porta potties. I used 2 of them that ran out of TP.
My 2 cents. Thanks again for a fun day.

This was my first time doing the race on recommendation of a friend (Gerhard Brummer) who did it last year. I have to say I am glad I signed up. I really like the concept because it involves a bit of strategy on how to run the first leg and it makes the event longer than a standard 10k so I felt like I really got my money's worth. Plus the amount of swag and awards is pretty generous considering the entry fee. Will do it again next year!

David Double Road Race (10K+5K) Great race! It was a new experience that I would love to do again. Just one thing, I noticed during the national anthem there was no American flag to look at. Being in the military for the last 8 years I know how important it is for an American flag to be present during the national anthem. Also remind people to remove their caps before the anthem is sung. Again, awesome race! :-)

This was a nice race and I would do it again. I think it would be better if the racers who run the 5K start 15 minutes later than the people running the double. It's just less congestion and confusion. I would suggest that you have the 5K people stay back for 15 minutes after the Double Racers have taken off. I also like how you give people an option of not getting a t-shirt. Since I enter several racers, I have enough t-shirts so like the option of not getting one. Even the races that do not give me that option, I will turn down the t-shirt so thank you for giving us that option.

Stacy Murillo Kids Cup Mile It would be nice if the awards for the Kids Cup were given out first in the future. It's hard for the little ones to wait so long so find out if they placed. Otherwise, we had a great time. My Girl Scout Troop loved volunteering and we would love to come back again next year. What a fun event.

Hello, i loved the race overall .Challenging
Well organized , lots of caring and friendliness
My only complain is the fact that the times announced for the starts or each race and the award ceremony were not honored .
I could do the race and stick around for the awards based on the times printed as I was to be back at work in Berkeley at noon.
Since every thing was delayed I missed the awrd ceremony , I was bummed as I had place 3rd .

Great race overall. I liked the loop course and the logistics seemed in order.

One complaint, I got an XL shirt, says XL on the tag, but it clearly is NOT XL, it isn't even L, might be a medium or small. Anyone else have this? Really too bad since the shirt is really cool, I'll just never ever be able to wear it :(

Not only was The Double Road Race a fun experience, it was really well organized. We felt spoiled after taking advantage of the Recovery Zone provided at the event. Where else can you enjoy a 10K run, receive a massage, run another 5K, then receive another massage?! From the training run to the day of the race itself, Bob Anderson and team have made us feel very welcome. We are definitely participating in the upcoming events.

It was a fun race but I didn't know that everyone starts the last 5K together. I was informed that we run the 10K, rest for 30 min., and then finish the 5K run. I'm not a runner but just started doing 5K and 10K runs this year, the Double race was a first for me. I was one of the stragglers that only got about 5 min. of rest period before the 5K started. Had I known that the set up was this way, I would've only signed up for the 5K this time. Overall, it was a really fun event for me.

One word.....BLAST!!!!!! I had an awesome was a blast!!! It's my first time doing this kind of event. I'm really impress on the way they strategize everything, from 10 k, halftime and then 5k. I give props to all the volunteers! All the markers are clear and not confusing. As big as the vent was that day, I don't feel like I'm lost. I will sign up for the SJB event and I will see you there! Bob, you are a genius for starting this kind of event and very approacheable person :-D

Loved this race! The distance is challenging enough and the two-legs version arranges for an interesting twist! This race is for athletes from all levels of fitness and there is even a kids version. The setup was pretty good and the cool band was the cherry on top. Will definitely do some of the other Doubles (next one is in Pleasanton)!

PS: I have one issue though: My Garmin time was basically the same as my chip time. However, my chip pace was significantly slower according to the organizers. They are looking into it for me... Other than that, super awesome race and highly recommended!!

naomi morita Double Road Race (10K+5K) Race was fun and I enjoyed the double format. It was great to have all the vendors there providing information, food and drink. Special thanks to the New Leaf sponsor, who provided LOTS of bananas and water and snacks!

I do wish the timing of the event was better, especially the awards ceremony which started about 30 minutes late (published time was 10:30).

Simpson Chan Double Road Race (10K+5K) The run was great! The atmosphere was great with the band playing in the background. This is a good location to have a race since there isn't that much traffic flowing through these street. One critique about the race is to change up the course. Running this course three times wasn't something I expected. It would have been nice to incorporate the trails into the race. Thanks for organizing such wonderful event.

The event was excellent and very well-organized. I had no idea what to expect. Running the same loop 3 times gives you a chance to make a plan for the 2nd and 3rd loops. I look forward to more Double Road Races!

I just wanted to say thank you for a great race. It was very well organized and the volunteers were great, esp Mr. Thing 1 and the aloha woman at the top of that one hill. Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement. I'll be doing this one again.
